About two years ago I was privileged to speak to a group of young girls who were thinking about going into business or starting some kind of community initiative as young adults. I was given 15 minutes to inspire them, (not much time for someone who lives to inspire)!!!
As I prepared for this talk many ideas crossed my mind which I knew would have motivated them and in many ways empowered them along their journey, however I wanted to leave them with a thought that would remain. I wanted to impress upon them some ideas that have become my heartbeat, some thoughts that have been the compass for the middle years of my life, I wanted to share with them what I believe are three very important things that every young adult (and old adult) should be told.
My 15 minute inspirational speech was entitiled...
3 THINGS I WISH THEY TOLD ME!!
1. BE WHO YOU ARE!
There is no one like YOU! YOU are unique, YOU are special, YOU are amazing , YOU are different, YOU are outstanding, YOU were born an original! Even if two, three or four of you were blessed to be born at the same time, YOU cannot be compared! Because of this truth you should take pride and pleasure in who you are. Celebrate YOU! Appreciate YOU! Know, respect and love YOU!
Most people spend their lives living someone else's dream don't let that be you!!
2. DO WHAT YOU LOVE!
You were created to DO something remarkable!
I believe that everyone of us were born to make a difference and in some way destined to change the world. Whatever your 'thing' is...DO THAT! What is your 'thing'? What do you love to do, where do you love to go, who do you love to help, what difference would you love to make? DO THAT!!! The world is overflowing with people who are doing what they were told to do or what they feel they must do as opposed to doing what they would LOVE to do. As long as it is underpinned by honesty, integrity and love...DO YOUR THING!!
3. HAVE WHAT YOU WANT!
I heard someone say 'you can't have everything'. Then I heard someone else say 'you can have everything, but not all at the same time!'. I chose to believe the latter. I am a firm believer that if you work diligently and with integrity and you pace yourself, you can have it ALL!! Success can be achieved in every area of your life. Who said you can't have what you want? I believe that the reason most people don't have what they want is simply because they don't KNOW WHAT THEY WANT! I wish someone told me I could have what I wanted sooner, because I would have much more than I have right now, and believe me I have been blessed with MUCH!!!
So, there you have it, a taster of my 15 minute inspirational speech!! It is one that I have given many times since then and it is at the heartbeat of my life's message.
There is no one like you so BE WHO YOU ARE!
No one can do what you were born to do like you can so DO WHAT YOU LOVE!
There are no limits except the ones you place on yourself so HAVE WHAT YOU WANT!
YES U CAN!!
Be who you are. Do what you love. Have what you want.

What did you just say?
Did you know that we spend more time talking to ourselves than we do talking to anyone else?
Did you also know that over 90% of our 'self talk' is negative?
YOUR WORDS ARE WAITING FOR YOU IN YOUR FUTURE!
Whatever you say TO or ABOUT yourself today is laying in wait for you tomorrow.
If you say I am stupid, I am forgetful, I am always late, I am always tired, I am always stressed...guess what is waiting for you tomorrow???
If you say no one will ever love me, no one cares about me, no one understands me...guess what is waiting for you tomorrow???
Our words create our world and while we can 'fake it' for a while, the truth of what we believe will eventually catch up with us.
Our words are our beliefs AMPLIFIED, they give VOLUME to the thoughts that we secretly possess.
Out of the abundance of our heart the mouth speaks.
What are you thinking in your heart, what do you really believe about yourself and your current situation?
Do you think thoughts of success or failure? Do you think thoughts that are positive or negative? Do you think thoughts that are empowering or disempowering?
Whatever you are thinking you will eventually start saying, so be careful, be conscious and be clear.
Whenever you find yourself saying something that you would not like to 'see' in your future, ask yourself this question ...what did you just say?
Be who you are. Do what you love. Have what you want.

Living a designer life!
I am quite 'facinated' (for want of a better word) by people who are obsessed with designer labels. I find it quite interesting and at times bizzare that there are people who, it seems, would give their lives to wear or own something that has the name of someone else on it! If a garment has a person's 'stamp' on it that makes the item worth more because it then becomes a name brand!
If designer clothes, designer shoes and designer bags are so desirable, my question is simple what about a designer life!!!
What if YOUR name had the credibility and pulling power that some of the big names possess?
What if the name KAREN ALLEN could command the attention of the world in the same way that ARMANI or CHANEL or PRADA or GUCCI does?
Well why not? After all who decides? Who decides what is a 'designer' label and how much it's worth?
If you could buy a LIFE of the shelf whose name would be on it?
I believe that if we spent even a fraction of the time and money on desgining our own lives as we do on the 'labels' of others we would soon recognise our true worth and cease living behind the mask of someone else's name.
There is no one like you!!! You are a 'name brand'! You have the potential to become a designer 'label'!
But how much are you prepared to spend investing in that which is an even more valuable assest - Designer YOU!!!
Make the life you would buy your own! Don't spend your life living someone else's dream.
Be who you are, Do what you love, Have what you want!

Welcome to the world of blogging???
OK I know I'm late possibly the only person left on the planet who has just set up a blog, HOWEVER better late than never! (I hope)
I'm taking a journey into the world of online 'everything', facebook, twitter, my space, blogging, it's all new to me but here goes. I've been at home with the children for years so I haven't had the time to be honest, or should I say, I haven't made the time. But now is the time so let's see how this thing works....
